“Elite, Creative, Leadership Character for Life Through Soccer”
As a parent what do you want from competitive sports for your children?
FC Springfield Legends is a player-focussed soccer club. In our view, the club exists to help each player reach his or her full potential, as opposed to players being used for club achievement first and foremost. We believe our youth devlopment players have time to grow their competitive style in a sport that takes years to master, and also believe that our long-term players will be highly competitive in their teens through a player-focussed approach to training that promotes a stronger team in the most important years of competitive play.
The “Training Soccer Legends” program strives to develop tremendous creativity, self-concept, responsibility and leadership in ways that other more traditional methodologies can’t. In the process our players become elite, confident, well-rounded individuals assured enough to step up and lead responsibly when the situation calls for it. Most soccer programs fail to address this crucial aspect of character development. We will support children to dare greatly and make mistakes. As a result no risk will be feared. Legends players experience no guilt, no shame and no blame.
How Do You “The Parent” Benefit From Having Your Child Play For The Legends?
Good parents live to make their children great members of society. To do this we need to help our children develop a great self-concept. Long-term Legends players are soccer stars. Consequently they earn respect from their peers, coaches and other parents in the community. Sporting leaders are high respected in society. The special “Quarterback” role we teach guarantees self-conceptual growth. When you invest your time and hard earned money you want your child to experience something special, right? Great parents make a big investment in their children. Why make a big investment in an experience where your child may not get treated fairly? Many premier soccer programs play unequal playing time, pigeonhole (position) players, use negative tactics to win games etc. These “traditional” approaches can humiliate, restrict and use children. As a kid, were you motivated by being benched, pigeonholed and threatened or by receiving encouragement, praise and creative teaching?
